RED BUD FARMS
Located in Ben Lomond, Arkansas, Red Bud Farms began in 1994 with the purchase of two commercial Brangus heifers. Today, we manage 250 head of Red Brangus females on 2,500 acres of rolling hills in Southwest Arkansas. Our herd consists of both commercial and registered cattle. Our registered herd consists of 3/8 x 5/8, 1/4, and 1/2 blood Red Brangus. We are breeding new 3/8 x 5/8 genetics with our 1/4 and 1/2 blood cows. We are also using artificial insemination, embryo transfer, and a powerful set of herd sires to breed multi generation 3/8 x 5/8 animals. We work hard to bring top genetics to our customers that will work.
Our cattle are raised with emphasis being placed on productivity and efficiency. Our registered cattle are managed exactly like our commercial cattle - they either perform or they don't; with those that don't being culled. We expose our cattle to a rigorous management scheme to weed out the cows that don't work. Heifers are bred at 14-15 months of age and expected to calve every year during their tenure at Red Bud Farms. We artificially inseminate our entire herd at the beginning of our 60 day breeding season. They are then exposed to bulls for 45 days. Cows that fail to breed within this time frame are culled regardless of who they are. These practices increase the uniformity of our calf crop and allow us to more effectively cull cows based on fertility, production, and efficiency. We believe this management scheme helps us to produce cattle that will work for our customers under a wide array of schemes.
We have been building our herd over the past 15 years, and our future looks bright. We hope you think of us when it comes time to make your next cattle purchase. When you make a purchase from our ranch, you are giving us the opportunity to help you with your operation, and we take that responsibility very seriously. Your satisfaction is of the utmost importance to us. We look forward to working with you. Our philosophy is: We are here to help your program succeed.
